Paddle Popper:

A move in witch the paddle bounce off of the water, into the air, completes a three sixty, and at the same time is spinning on its long axis.

(1) Wind up, bring the paddle high above your head. Get everyones attention. Throw the paddle towards the surface of the water using the arm on the side of the kayak that you plan to do the paddle popper.

(2) Brind the blade down flat against the water. The louder the sound the cooler it will look.

(3)Now as the blade of the paddle slaps the water continue to hold the paddle and swing it up into the air. This is simply a paddle throw. Do this fast to make it look like the paddle is bouncing off the water.

(4) Carry the paddle up into the air and give it a little flick of the wrist to make the paddle do a three sixty in the air and spin on its long axis. This is the hardest part of the move and it will probably take a bit of practice. Doing this with a bent shaft paddle can be a little more tricky because you need to make sure that it does a three sixty in the air and that it land right side up.

(5) Watch carefully so that you can grab at the right time. It helps to work on this one somewhere secluded so that no one will notice that your are really just throwing the paddle. Once you have mastered this move on the flat water you can start try in them on waves and holes where they will really impress the crowd.
