Hold the lighter upright, hinges pointing right. the back of your middle finger on the side of the lighter facing you, while, the underside (pads) of your index and ring fingers on the other side of the lighter. Use your index finger to slide the cap back, and at the same time turn the lighter (with your wrist) so the side of the flint wheel faces you. Light with thumb, and close by snapping shut with a flick of the wrist.
