You snap open the lid using your left hand, and then you click/snap your thumb and middle-finger, making sure the tip of your middle-finger sparks up the wick. If you do this trick correctly you will only hear the clicking of your finger rather than the rolling of the wheel. Therefore it seems like you clicked on your lighter.
