Hold the lighter by the cap with the index and middle fingers of your dominant hand. The lighter is on its side with the hinge facing down so that when you look at it, you see the wide flat part. Rest the hinge side of the cap on your ring finger. Place your non-dominant hand on top the side of the hinge and slide it in a 45 degree angle outwards. This should open the lighter and at the same time strike the wheel with your palm and the part right after the bottom of your thumb. That's it. If you did it right and in one swift move, you should be holding the lit lighter by the cap. Close either with a quick tilt of the wrist, or any other way you see fit.
