How to Play the Pokémon Trading Card Game for Game Boy:
1. Sit through the demonstration by Sam, Dr. Mason's assistant. If you don't know how to play the TCG (Trading Card Game), you might want to listen up.
2. Pick a deck to use from Dr. Mason. If you want the rare and valuable Charizard, pick the Charmander and Friends Deck. If you prefer Blastoise, also a rare and valuable card, pick the Squirtle and Friends Deck. But if neither of those suit your fancy, there's always the Bulbasaur and Friends Deck containing the rare and valuable Venusaur.
3. Start off with a few good cards by exiting Dr. Mason's Lab. Go to all of the Dueling Clubs, one by one, and talk to the head of each club. Some are inaccessible, so don't worry if you can't get to them yet.
4. Just move on to the next place and try the next leader. Some of the leaders won't want to duel you yet or may be busy. It doesn't matter, as long as you talk to them. Finally, some of the leaders will offer to duel you. Say no (don't duel them).
5. Head back to Dr. Mason's Lab after you have talked to all of the possible leaders. Walk to the computer in the upper-left hand corner of the first room, and press the A button. Select Read Mail on the menu, and press A. There should be several blinking messages. In every message, Dr. Mason will give you tips and a booster pack (two if you are lucky). Now you have a bunch of cards to start the game with!
