How to Shoot Over Another Ball in Pool:

Sometimes the cue ball ends up too close to another ball to allow you to use your normal bridge. In this case, you must use this modified bridge technique.

1. Put your fingertips down next to the ball you are hitting over.

2. Press down and roll your fingertips forward, so your nails are on the table.

3. Lift your wrist up.

4. Raise your thumb up so that the joint is about even with your knuckles.

5. Lay the cue in the crease formed by your thumb and knuckle.

6. Hold the butt of the cue as low as is feasible when hitting (your tendency will be to hold it high) to avoid hitting down on the cue ball.

7. Be sure your hand position is firm, and stroke lightly.
