How to Power Slide Stop on In-Line Skates :
A quick way to stop from a high rate of speed, the power slide stop is an essential maneuver for any serious roller hockey player or in-line skater.
1. Lean into a fairly sharp turn from a high speed.
2. Extend your outside leg, placing it almost on its side, with your wheels still touching the ground.
3. Turn your inside skate 90 degrees so that your heel is perpendicular to your outside skate.
4. Shift your weight entirely to your outside skate. This is the key element to the power slide stop.
5. Slide to a stop, balancing on your inside skate as it rolls along with the slide.
6. Transfer your weight back to your inside skate to begin skating again in the opposite direction.
